Russia AC4b

The Russia has a beautiful finish and elegant lines.  The short wing span has a high aspect ratio and wing loading which leads to nice gliding performance.  The quick handling allows me to grab the fast core of thermals and always leaves me smiling.

12:1 glide ratio!

Magic IV hang glider flying above Blossom Valley.

UCSD Soaring Club

The glider I learned to fly in. The UCSD Soaring Club was a wonderful organization that taught many students the joy of soaring.

Blanik

All metal training ship used by the AGCSC, our sister club and tow supplier.

Family

They support my soaring even though they'd rather have more of my time!

Setting Up

Notice the floor pump; this was taken before I applied the 'slime' fix to the main landing gear. I haven't added air for 6 months.

It has no bad habits and I hardly know it is there.

A nose cone firmly holds the Russia in place.

Wing root dolly

The dolly come out past the end of the trailer to allow the wing to rotate.

Tied down in the towing position.

Out of the trailer

The tail must be lifted as the fuselage rolls out.

Fuselage Stand

Easily lift the Russia up to work on the wheel.

Instrument Panel

Removable Garmin GPS

Fold out

Secure the wing to the dolly and rotate it out into position.

Insert Wing

Rest the wing in the spar box, walk out to the tip and carefully push it in. The spar box holds it in place.
